Eurowings is now connecting Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) with Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. This new route complements the existing connection to Dubai and will operate three times a week. The expansion of the route network strengthens the capital region’s connection with the Middle East and offers travelers new opportunities.
New route to Jeddah
Eurowings has recently started offering a direct flight connection from BER to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. The flights take place three times a week – Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Departure from BER is at 9:20 p.m., arriving at the Red Sea at 5:00 a.m. local time. The return flight departs Jeddah at 6:30 a.m. and arrives in Berlin at 10:35 a.m. The connection will be operated by an Airbus A320neo and will take approximately six hours. This new direct connection is a significant step towards expanding connections in the Middle East.
Strengthening BER as an air traffic hub
Eurowings is expanding the route network from Berlin Brandenburg with the new route to Jeddah. In addition to the existing route to Dubai, which has been increased to seven weekly flights since the end of October, the connection strengthens BER’s position as an important center for international air traffic. Aletta von Massenbach, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, said that the new destinations in the Middle East increase the attractiveness of the airport and immensely expand travel options for passengers.
Expanded winter flight options
Eurowings offers a variety of destinations from BER in the 2024 winter flight schedule. From Nordic cities like Helsinki, Gothenburg, Tromsø and Stockholm, to popular winter holiday destinations like Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Hurghada, to family visit destinations like Yerevan. From December 14th, the airline is expanding its offering with non-stop flights to Faro in Portugal. The provision of such varied routes shows the expansion of freedom of flight for travelers from Berlin and Brandenburg.
Future prospects for Eurowings
With the addition of Jeddah and the expansion of the Dubai connection, Eurowings is sending clear signals for future growth. The airline aims to maintain its position as Germany’s largest holiday airline and to further consolidate its market position through a larger selection of attractive travel destinations in the winter flight schedule. Jens Bischof, CEO of Eurowings, emphasizes that the airlines will continue to offer passengers from Berlin and Brandenburg a wide range of travel options, which could significantly increase interest in Middle East destinations.
