This brings the total number of A220-300s on firm order to 65 Airplanes.
Five years of impressive performance
Air Canada reports that the A220 has lived up to its expectations in the five years since its introduction. John Di Bert, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, said the A220 has enabled the airline to open new routes and operate existing routes more efficiently. This was possible due to the economic advantages of the aircraft, which contributed to profitable growth. The aircraft is also very popular with customers.

Air Canada’s latest order strengthens Canada’s aerospace industry as the A220 will be assembled in Mirabel, Quebec. Benoît de Saint-Exupéry from Airbus highlights that this order is the third from Air Canada in a few years. Airbus is committed to comprehensively supporting the airline’s fleet renewal.

Described as the most modern aircraft in its size category, the A220 combines a range of up to 3,600 nautical miles with a 25% reduction in fuel consumption. Equipped with the latest GTF engines from Pratt & Whitney, she is at the forefront of the use of sustainable aviation fuel.
Global demand for A220
By the end of November 2024, Airbus has recorded almost 900 orders for the A220 worldwide, of which almost 380 have already been delivered. The A220 is already in successful use with 23 operators and flies over 1,500 routes to more than 460 destinations, underlining its pioneering position in the smaller single-aisle market.
