BOC Aviation, a leading aircraft lessor, announces that it has placed a firm order with Airbus for 70 additional A320neo Family aircraft. This order marks the largest order in the company’s history with Airbus. The CEO of BOC Aviation emphasizes its strategic importance for the future.
Largest order backlog at Airbus
BOC Aviation has announced a significant milestone by placing a firm order for an additional 70 A320neo Family aircraft with Airbus. This purchase brings BOC Aviation’s order book to new heights, marking the largest inventory of outstanding Airbus aircraft in the company’s history. Steven Townend, Managing Director and CEO of BOC Aviation, expressed optimism, noting that this transaction brings the company’s remaining Airbus order book to approximately 200 aircraft, representing more than 700 Airbus deliveries to date, including lease-back agreements since 1996.
BOC Aviation: Strengthening market position
The significant order from Airbus underscores BOC Aviation’s strategy to consolidate its position among the top five global aircraft leasing companies. This provides a solid delivery pipeline for the coming decade. The company sees itself well-equipped to meet future challenges, as the A320neo family is recognized as a popular, fuel-efficient, and technologically advanced aircraft. BOC Aviation is expected within the aviation industry to provide innovative and sustainable solutions to its airline customers.
Confidence in the Airbus A320 family
Benoit de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales for Airbus’ Commercial Aircraft Division, emphasized that BOC Aviation’s confidence in the A320 Family cements the company’s status as one of Airbus’ largest customers. This new, significant investment also demonstrates the continued market demand for Airbus’ fuel-efficient aircraft and their long-term value. The A320 Family is the world’s most successful narrow-body single-aisle aircraft type, generating over 19,000 orders internationally.
Sustainable future prospects
The A320 Family ensures that aircraft operators benefit from the exceptional advantages offered by modern aviation technology. All members of the Family, including the A321neo, are distinguished by their range and performance. These aircraft promise at least 20% fuel savings and CO₂ reduction compared to previous generations of single-aisle aircraft. With the ability to run on up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel today and the prospect of 100% sustainability by 2030, the A320 Family’s future prospects are particularly environmentally friendly.
