The first construction phase of the airport expansion at Antalya Airport has been successfully completed. The project company, founded by Fraport AG and TAV Airports Holding, significantly expanded terminal capacity within three years. Over 38 million passengers last year confirm the importance of this investment for the region.
Significant capacity increase through airport expansion
During the three-year construction phase, the project consortium consisting of Fraport AG and TAV Airports Holding expanded the area of the international Terminal 2 by 132,000 square meters. The domestic terminal also underwent a 38,000 square meter expansion. These expansions represent a significant step toward meeting the growing demand for air travel to the Turkish Riviera.
Strategic relevance of the airport
Antalya Airport is Turkey’s second-largest airport in terms of passenger volume. The recent expansion strengthens its position as a hub in the Mediterranean region. Dr. Stefan Schulte, Chairman of the Executive Board of Fraport AG, explained that this development further enhances the attractiveness of the location and secures the airport’s continued existence as a leading leisure airport.
New dining options at Antalya Airport
Travelers can look forward to a new dining experience as Fraport establishes new restaurant offerings in the expanded terminals through the “Best Food for All” joint venture. This innovation underscores its commitment to significantly improving the quality of passenger experience and offers a wide range of dining options at the airport.
Future projects and investments
Along with the expanded terminals, new parking spaces and apron areas were created. Another control tower is expected in the next construction phase. Fraport AG and TAV Airports plan to continue making significant investments to promote tourism growth in the region, which is attractive to visitors not only during the summer months.
Fraport AG is a globally active airport operator with extensive experience in the planning and implementation of major projects. It has been operating at Antalya Airport for over 20 years and has contributed significantly to the development and modernization of the infrastructure. Through successful concessions until 2051, it will continue to optimize operational performance and service quality together with TAV Airports.
