The 22nd edition of the regional competition “Jugend forscht – Junior” will take place at Munich Airport. From February 26th to 27th, 86 young talents will present their innovative projects that reflect the creative spirit in disciplines such as biology, chemistry and technology.
Competition for young talents
For the 22nd time, Munich Airport is offering young innovators the opportunity to take part in the renowned “Jugend forscht – Junior” competition. The event also celebrates the 60th anniversary of Jugend forscht and represents an important springboard for young scientists. Over two days, 86 participants between the ages of ten and 19 will present their creative solutions and scientific experiments. This event aims to promote the creative skills and innovative potential of young people.
Diversity of projects
From the world of work, biology and chemistry to mathematics/computer science, earth and spatial sciences, physics and technology, the projects presented cover a wide range of scientific questions. Participants like the students at Ismaning High School want to impress with an AI model to make communication with deaf people easier. Another notable contribution comes from students at the Josef-Hofmiller-Gymnasium, who are working on the development of a biodegradable bioplastic from leftover fruit peel.

Flughafen München GmbH has been committed to the inventiveness of young people for over two decades, not only to promote talent, but also to highlight career prospects at the airport. A team of 28 jurors will take on the challenge of evaluating the creative projects and choosing the winners. This form of support shows FMG’s commitment to creating an environment that stimulates innovation and technological developments.
Participation and outlook
The interested public is invited to view the exciting projects of the young researchers on February 26, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on February 27, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in LabCampus 52 at Munich Airport. This event not only offers a glimpse into the future of technological and scientific developments, but also inspires the next generation of innovators.
