The route networks of ITA Airways and the Lufthansa Group, including SWISS and Brussels Airlines, will be connected through code sharing for the first time. This allows customers expanded flight options and flexibility from the summer flight schedule.
Expanded flight options through codesharing
ITA Airways and Lufthansa Group have announced that they will connect their route networks through a codeshare deal. From the 2025 summer flight schedule, customers can choose from over 100 new codeshare connections. This agreement allows flights from the two airlines to be seamlessly combined in a single booking, giving passengers more flexibility and expanded flight options.
Unification and convenience for travelers
From now on, passengers who change will only receive a ticket with flight numbers from one airline, regardless of whether they are flying with ITA Airways or one of the Lufthansa Group network airlines. The travelers’ luggage is conveniently checked through to the destination airport. Members of the Miles & loyalty programs More and Volare can also earn and redeem miles on codeshare flights, further enhancing the travel experience.
Target markets and route network
From March 30, 2025, selected ITA Airways flights will also be available under the flight numbers of Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines or Brussels Airlines. This includes both year-round domestic Italian flights and international routes from Rome-Fiumicino. New to the program for Lufthansa customers are Italian destinations such as Alghero, Pantelleria and Reggio di Calabria, which are accessible for the first time through the codeshare agreement.
Future prospects and goal expansion
In addition, ITA Airways codes will be added to flights between Italy and the other Lufthansa Group hubs, making it easier to reach European destinations, particularly in Northern, Central and Eastern Europe. In the future, ITA Airways passengers will be able to fly to over 250 Lufthansa Group destinations, which represents a significant expansion of travel options.
The Lufthansa Group is a leading aviation provider with an extensive network worldwide. Together with its partners, it strives to continually improve and expand its customers’ travel experience through strategic partnerships such as the new codeshare program with ITA Airways.
