Tips from travel experts on how travelers can find cheap flights for the Easter holidays

Friederike Burge, travel expert at Skyscanner, explains: “If you’re flexible about your destination or the exact travel date and aren’t tied to the Easter weekend from Friday to Monday, for example, you can still find cheap flights for the Easter holidays.”

Consider “All Places”: The “All Places” search on Skyscanner.de is a good starting point for your Easter holiday. Those open to new travel destinations can use the tool to find all possible destinations for their desired dates, sorted by price. It inspires travelers to fly to a place they’ve never been before, and at a lower price than many traditional holiday destinations.

Be flexible with your time: Searching without a specific travel date offers the best chance of finding a bargain. Flight prices are based on supply and demand. Since some dates are more popular than others, prices vary. Using Skyscanner’s “whole month” search function, travelers can see the cheapest flights at a glance and easily select the deal that suits them best. Considering a day before or after your original departure date can save you a lot of money, as flights on less popular days of the week are often cheaper.

Consider nearby airports: It’s often worth considering other nearby departure airports. Skyscanner, for example, offers the option to search for “nearby departure airports” to see all options at a glance. Especially around Easter, holiday periods vary in many German states. Flights are often cheaper in a neighboring state that doesn’t have a holiday, for example. Depending on where you want to go—and how expensive the prices are—a (small) detour to another may be worthwhile.

Find cheap flights spontaneously: If you’re flexible with your time and open to new travel destinations, the new Drops feature in the Skyscanner app gives you daily access to new flight connections with prices that have dropped by at least 20 percent compared to the previous week. This makes it easy to find cheap deals even on the spur of the moment.
